Trade Publication Writing
I started my career in publishing more than 25 years ago as a writer and managing editor of Radio Only magazine, a national publication of Inside Radio Inc., covering topics of interest to radio station managers. For Radio Only and Inside Radio newsletter, I wrote dozens of articles based on interviews with radio station managers. From there I became a writer and managing editor of Standardization News magazine for members of ASTM International, a standards development organization. Article topics included issues of healthcare, safety, science, engineering and manufacturing. As the communications director for the American Institute of Architects Philadelphia Chapter, I was the editor of The Philadelphia Architect newsletter targeted to the regional design and building community. At the AIA, I personally wrote dozens of articles and coordinated architects and other writers who would weigh in on topics of sustainable design, architectural education, urban design, historic preservation and other design-related issues. I currently work part-time as a communications specialist for Penn Presbyterian Medical Center where I help to develop booklets, brochures and other materials for patients, families and healthcare professionals.
